Review Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet

Posted by Kania Safitri at 2:02 PM
Hello Beauties..

Now I'd like to review one of best lip cream I have. This lip cream is now being much in demand, and by chance a few months ago Lip Cream is Sold Out everywhere. At that time I came to the event Blogger gathering held by BOURJOIS Indonesia (you can read HERE) and I got Goodie Bag which one is this lip cream.
There are only 8 shades available in the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick collection, and they are: Personne ne Rouge, Frambourjoise, Hot Pepper, Peach Club, Ole Flamingo Pink Pong, Nude-Ist, and Grand Cru. The colours are divided into 3 categories of reds, nudes and pinks, but they are all very bold and intense, even the nude ones. I have Personne ne Rouge #01,  Ole Flamingo #05 and Grand Cru #08;  Ole Flamingo color is Deep Pink color fresh and Grand Cru, which is my favourite, is a bright open red.

The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick is a lightweight liquid lipstick with a velvet matte finish that lasts up to 24 hours. It comes in a clear plastic bottle and the cap matches its corresponding shade, which I thought was a lovely touch. This lipstick has a very strong ‘industrial’ smell, which I find very unpleasant, but it kind of fades a few minutes after application. Everything about this lipstick resembles a lipgloss, including the little foam applicator.

Now let's talk about the formula! These lippies are very creamy but not slippery. They have slightly velvety texture and they apply easily .The doe foot applicator really does the job well, it really helps the product to glide on efforlessly. The texture is lightweight, and very good pigmented. One swipe is enough to get full coverage. I don't find them accentuating my lip lines because they are very smooth.

They dry up to full matte finish and do get a bit sticky and could set into lip lines after some time but I like to swipe over a clear balm after few hours just to hydrate my lips a bit. I won't say that they are hydrating and not drying, but I think it is completely okay for matte lippies. Even though the ‘wet’ feeling disappears, I found that the Bourjois lipstick doesn’t completely dry on the lips; it kind of turns into a powdery finish once it sets and if you rub your lips together, you can feel the lipstick sliding. I totally agree with the claim that this lipstick is not drying on the lips, but if you have extremely dry lips, it can cling to dry patches, so make sure to exfoliate your lips and apply a clear lip balm first.

For Rp. 188.000,- each, I guess they are completely worth the money. Great formula, nice packaging and pretty matte shades! When it’s not out of stock, it’s pretty easy to find in any pharmacy in the Indonesia.

Overall, I think this is a very exciting launch by Bourjois, and definitely an innovative product that deserves an honourable mention! I’m not absolutely like this lip cream because I love the intense pigmentation, the staying power, the applicator, and the packaging, but I dislike the smell, the powdery feeling, the lack of more natural-looking shades, and the fact that it never really dries on the lips.
